Well, i just got back from a Mimio presentation, and am starting some due diligence on the product and services for Hawaii. As a reseller, we would get training on Mimio products so we can help schools and teachers integrate them into their curriculum. The inside issue with this technology is that it has to compete with Promethean and Smart - both of which have wonderful lesson plans for teachers to use, - which are shared online. Since Mimio is basically hardware, it runs all types of software that can be loaded on to your computer. My speculation is that once someone creates an open source lesson plan maker that can be utilized by all interactive boards - then the competition for products will begin. The hardware and software need to decouple, and then the prices of things will really get competitive... This is a scenario in which Mimio will probably win, with Epson in a close second, followed by Smart and Promethean coming in at the bottom. For now Mimio is a great alternative to the expense of the other boards, and it is a great way to get started using a projector interactively. You can use your own projector, hook up Mimio, and away you go! Then when it's time to get a new projector, get an ultra-short throw by epson or panasonic, and your shadow won't get in the way of your clicking on things. Wait for the next blog when i introduce the ultimate package in portability, and also the ultimate classroom interactive package. This will be fun to use, easy to set up, and will cot alot less than the cheapest interactive whiteboards! Stay tuned! Add Comment First Post! 12/06/2011
